Grow From Camper to Leader
Skiing Is Believing is developing a new Counselor in Training Program for teens ages 14–17.
The program will help former and graduating campers strengthen their leadership, communication and mentoring skills while gaining supervised, hands-on experience within SIB’s multisport and community-service camps.
Program Overview
A New Path for Growing Believers
The Counselor in Training Program will allow teens who have aged out of traditional SIB day camps to remain connected to the SIB community in a new and meaningful role.
Participants will learn alongside experienced SIB staff, support age-appropriate camp activities and practice the skills needed to become dependable mentors and future community leaders.
CIT participants will not serve as independent staff members or be solely responsible for younger campers.
What Participants Will Learn
Skills
Professional Skills
Build responsibility, preparation, punctuality, teamwork and an understanding of workplace expectations.
Communication
Practice communicating clearly and respectfully with campers, families, peers and SIB staff.
Mentoring
Learn how to encourage younger campers and model positive behavior.
Leadership
Develop confidence, accountability and the ability to support others.
Program Support
Observe and assist SIB staff as they deliver multisport activities, service projects and camp experiences.
Personal Growth
Continue building social, emotional and physical skills through meaningful participation.
Leadership Pathway
From Camper to Future Leader
Camper → Counselor in Training → Future Camp Leader or Coach
The CIT Program will create a pathway for teens interested in future opportunities with SIB.
Completion of the program will not guarantee employment.
Program Format
Choose a Program Season
Summer Season
Professional-development training and supervised camp experience during SIB’s summer programming.
School-Year Season
Professional-development training and supervised camp experience during eligible school breaks and school-year camp dates..
Each season will include:
- A required professional-development day at the beginning
- A minimum number of designated camp days
- Supervised experience alongside SIB staff
- A required closing training and reflection day
Participants will not need to attend every camp date but must complete the minimum commitment for their selected season.
Cost and Scholarships
Making the Program Accessible
The Counselor in Training Program will be a paid youth-development program.
Scholarships and foundation-supported participation may be available for families who need financial assistance.
Final tuition, scholarship eligibility and application details will be announced before enrollment opens.
